The function of refractory mud is to fill the joints of refractory bricks when we build furnaces to bond each other and make the masonry have a certain integrity, strength and air tightness. Therefore, the use of refractory mud has an impact on the quality of the masonry, the heat loss of the electric furnace and the furnace Shell temperature has a significant effect.

When we use refractory mud, we need to have the following requirements for the selected refractory mud:
1. After combining with water, the refractory mud can be mixed to a suitable volume consistency to fill the uneven parts left by the refractory bricks without cracking;
2. Any refractory raw material can be made into refractory mud, but when using refractory mud, we must match it according to the brick properties of the relevant refractory brick masonry, from material to refractoriness, load softening temperature, etc.;
3. Refractory mud must have good airtightness after drying and use at high temperature;
4. It has a certain mechanical strength and can withstand the pressure of the kiln operating environment.
