Construction technology and application scope of tortoise shell mesh

Tortoise Shell Mesh (also known as tortoise shell lining mesh) is mainly used for wear-resistant lining construction of high-temperature and high-wear equipment. Its construction process mainly includes the following steps:

1. Surface treatment

Clean the rust, oil and impurities on the inner wall of the equipment to ensure the welding surface is clean.

Weld anchor nails (Y-type or V-type), usually with a spacing of 150~300mm, to enhance the fixing strength of the tortoise shell mesh.

2. Installation of tortoise shell mesh

Cut the tortoise shell mesh according to the shape of the equipment, and use overlap or butt joint (overlap width ≥ 50mm).

Weld or bolt the tortoise shell mesh to the anchor nails to ensure that the mesh is flat and warp-free.

3. Construction of wear-resistant/insulating layer

Pouring method: Fill the refractory castable (such as corundum, silicon carbide) into the tortoise shell mesh holes and vibrate to compact them.

Spraying method: Use a spray gun to spray wear-resistant coatings in layers, which is suitable for complex structures.

4.Curation and baking

Curate at room temperature for 24~48 hours, and then bake according to the heating curve (usually 10~20℃/h) to avoid lining cracking.

Key points:

The tortoise shell mesh needs to be welded firmly to the anchor to prevent the lining from falling off.

Heat-resistant steel tortoise shell mesh (such as 304, 310S) should be used in high temperature environments (such as petrochemical equipment).

Turtle shell mesh lining is widely used in high temperature, corrosion and high wear conditions. Its application range mainly includes the following industries:

Petrochemical: reactors, regenerators and cyclone separators of catalytic cracking (FCC) units. Coal chemical gasifiers and high-temperature pipelines.

Power industry: combustion chambers, cyclones and flues of circulating fluidized bed (CFB) boilers. Wear-resistant linings of coal powder conveying systems.

Metallurgical industry: lining protection of blast furnaces, hot blast furnaces and sintering machines. Wear-resistant layer of ladle and iron ditch.

Environmental protection and building materials: waste incinerators, cement kiln preheaters and decomposition furnaces. Wear-resistant pipelines and ore dressing equipment linings.

Advantages of turtle shell mesh combined with refractory construction:

High temperature resistance: can withstand high temperatures of 800~1200℃ for a long time (the upper limit is determined by the material).

Wear resistance: The combination of turtle shell mesh + wear-resistant castables can resist the erosion of granular materials.

Flexible construction: suitable for special-shaped equipment and easier to maintain than traditional refractory bricks.

The tortoise shell mesh lining significantly improves the life of the equipment through the combination of metal skeleton and wear-resistant materials. It is suitable for harsh working conditions such as petrochemical, electric power, and metallurgy. The welding and baking processes must be strictly controlled during construction.
