Silicon Carbide Refractory Bricks

Silicon nitride bonded silicon carbide wear-resistant refractory bricks are made of SiC and Si as raw materials, and are nitrided and fired refractory products. Si3N4 is used as the binder. It has good wear resistance and corrosion resistance to molten metal. It is corrosion-resistant. It has strong resistance to thermal shock, excellent thermal conductivity and mechanical properties. Silicon nitride combined with silicon carbide products have high strength at room temperature. At high temperatures of 1200-1400°C, they can maintain their strength and hardness for almost the same time as at room temperature. It has excellent antioxidant properties at 1350 ~ 1 500 ℃. In addition, compared with other non-oxide refractory materials, such as reaction sintered silicon carbide, recrystallized silicon carbide, reaction sintered boron carbide and other materials, silicon nitride combined with silicon carbide refractory materials have significant price advantages. Therefore, it is widely used in non-ferrous metals, steel, petrochemicals, ceramics, automobiles, coal, energy conservation and environmental protection and other fields.

Refractory products made of silicon carbide and silicon carbide directly bonded with each other are characterized by the absence of a second phase and are composed of 100% α-SiC. They are new energy kiln furniture materials developed in the 1980s.

Key points of the manufacturing process of recrystallized silicon carbide bricks:

(1) The grading must be able to achieve the maximum stacking density, and the clay molding pressure must ensure a large volume density.

(2) Firing must be carried out in an electric furnace that is isolated from air and can reach a high temperature of 2500℃. At temperatures above 2100℃, SiC evaporates and condenses, resulting in a self-bonding structure without shrinkage.

Use: Recrystallized silicon carbide products are mainly used as kiln furniture, which have the advantages of energy saving, increasing the effective volume of the kiln, shortening the firing cycle, improving the production efficiency of the kiln, and high economic benefits. They can also be used as burner nozzle heads, ceramic radiation heating tubes, component protection tubes (especially for atmosphere furnaces), etc.
