
Self-flowing castables are new construction method refractory castables developed in the past 10 years. They are innovative on the basis of low-cement series refractory castables and developed on the basis of the solid closest packing principle and rheological theory. This self-flowing castable is mainly used in thermal equipment such as thin linings, difficult to construct or repair linings, and has significant economic benefits. At the same time, it has been applied to thermal equipment such as ladles and tundishes, blast furnace iron ditch and slag ditch, boiler tube protective layer and incinerator grate, heating furnace and cement kiln, and has achieved good results.
Self-flowing castables (S.F.C) are highly thixotropic mixing materials that can flow and degas by their own gravity, called self-flowing refractory castables. Its characteristics are: the performance of the castable is similar to or slightly better than that of the vibration type low cement series refractory castable; no vibration equipment is required, and no steel chisel is used to tamp or hit the outer mold, so it can reduce construction costs, noise pollution and labor intensity; the matrix material of the castable is of high quality and large quantity, and the aggregate needs to be processed into a nearly round shape and use materials with low water absorption, so as to ensure its self-flowing, exhaust and compactness, but the cost of raw materials is slightly increased.
In self-flowing castables, in order to obtain appropriate fluidity, it is necessary to reasonably select the variety, particle size distribution and dosage of refractory bone powder and binder. At the same time, in order to reduce the amount of water, it is also very important to add a water reducer.
When preparing self-flowing castables, the type and amount of water reducer should be reasonably selected according to the characteristics of the constituent materials, especially the matrix material, and it is best to use them in combination.
The main application of self-flowing castables is the narrow parts of the kiln and the repair of damaged furnace linings, and its characteristics can be fully demonstrated. When preparing self-flowing castables, materials with high bulk density, low water absorption and few impurities must be selected as refractory aggregates.
