Low Cement Castable

Low cement castable refers to a new type of castable containing a small amount of binder. The key is to use ultra-fine particles no larger than 1μm. Its thermal shock resistance, slag resistance and corrosion resistance are significantly improved, surpassing similar refractory bricks.
Low-cement castable is a high-tech refractory material developed on ordinary castables using rheology principles, closest packing theory and ultra-fine powder technology. It has the characteristics of low porosity, small pore size, high density, good volume stability, high strength and small amount of water. It overcomes the significant decrease in strength of ordinary castables at 800-1200°C, and increases with temperature. High and raised, this can more than double the thermal shock resistance of the furnace body.

Low-cement castables refer to new castables with very little binder content. The key point is to use ultra-fine particles not exceeding 1μm. Its thermal shock resistance, slag resistance and erosion resistance are significantly improved, exceeding similar refractory bricks.

Low-cement refractory castables refer to castables with relatively low cement content. The cement content is generally 5%-7%. Cement content below 1% is called ultra-low cement castables. The ultra-low cement corundum mullite castables produced by our company are mainly made of high-quality corundum (or high-alumina bauxite), α-Al2O3 micropowder, cement, etc. as raw materials, and a certain proportion of binder is added and stirred. It is suitable for the front and rear kiln mouths of cement kilns, kiln door covers, coolers, chemical kilns and other industrial kiln linings.

Low-cement castables refer to castables with low cement content. The cement content of refractory cement castables is generally 10%~20%, while the cement content of low-cement castables is about 5%, and some are even reduced to 1%~2%. The purpose of reducing the amount of cement is to improve the refractory performance of the castable.

 

 

It relies on the addition of several special raw materials to obtain good performance: First, pure calcium aluminate cement, due to the high content of effective mineral CaO·Al2O3, less addition can obtain the required strength. Second, silica fume, which is glass microspheres with an SiO2 content of between 93% and 98% and an average particle size of about 0.5μm. After adding silica fume, the castable has good fluidity, low molding water requirement, low sintering temperature, and improved performance after heat treatment. Third, alumina micropowder, it is easier to participate in the reaction and improve the refractory of the material. Fourth, water reducer, it can be adsorbed on the surface of the powder, and then produce electrostatic repulsion to disperse the powder, thereby further exerting the role of the micropowder.
