Sintered Zirconium Corundum Brick

Sintered Zirconium Corundum Brick

Sintered zirconium corundum bricks are mainly made of 30%-41% zirconium dioxide added to alumina ingredients. Its main mineral components include corundum, baddeleyite and glass phase. The raw materials for the production of sintered zirconium corundum bricks include α-Al2O3, partially stabilized zirconium dioxide and zirconium corundum clinker. After batching and molding, they are fired at 1700~1750℃. This brick has strong resistance to erosion by molten glass, alkali vapor resistance, and thermal shock resistance than fused-cast zirconium corundum bricks. Therefore, it is mainly used as the lining of glass kilns and induction furnaces, as well as the slide rails of steel rolling heating furnaces.

Sintered corundum brick is a refractory product made of sintered dense alumina clinker. Sintered corundum brick has a high melting point, stable performance at high temperature, good mechanical strength and wear resistance at room temperature and high temperature. It has excellent resistance to metal corrosion, oxidation and reduction.

The raw materials used to produce sintered corundum bricks are high-purity industrial alumina, which is calcined and finely ground (sometimes a small amount of MgO additives are added to improve its crystal structure), pressed into a green body, and calcined at above 1850°C. High-temperature calcination reduces the pores in the green body structure and increases the grain size by about 25 to 40 times. Good sintered corundum crystals have a dense plate-like structure.

The sintered corundum with porosity less than 3% and bulk density greater than 3.60g/cm3 is crushed to the required particle size for brick making. The physical and chemical properties of the raw materials are as follows: Al2O3 99.17%~99.31%, SiO2 0.19%~0.26%, Fe2O3 0.09%~0.14%, CaO 0.05%~0.06%, MgO 0.04%~0.13%, Na2O 0.07%~0.12%, ignition loss 0.15%-0.09%, water absorption 0.6%~1.0%, apparent porosity 2.3%~3.7%, bulk density 3.60~3.66g/cm', true density 3.69~3.80g/cm3.

Products Description

The production process of sintered zirconium corundum bricks is to crush the sintered corundum into 3mm coarse particles and some fine powders less than 0.074mm, and some are mixed with a small amount of clay and other binders, and then formed with a high-pressure friction brick press or an oil press. After drying, the bricks are loaded into a high-temperature kiln for firing. Generally, the sintered zirconium corundum bricks with higher purity have a firing temperature of 1750~1800℃. If a small amount of clay or additives are added, the firing temperature can be 1600~1700℃. The physical and chemical properties of sintered corundum bricks are as follows: Al2O3>95%, refractoriness greater than 1790℃, apparent porosity less than 14%, bulk density 3.22g/cm3, compressive strength>100MPa, creep rate (1550℃, 50h) 0.5%, and load softening temperature (T0.6) greater than 1700℃. Sintered corundum bricks made of sintered corundum have high purity and excellent physical properties. Sintered zirconium corundum bricks are mainly used in blast furnaces and refining furnaces outside the furnace in glass kilns and metallurgical industries. They are also widely used in industrial kilns such as chemical and electronic industries.
