It is usually required that this type of material has high strength, excellent resistance to melt or gas corrosion, good coating and adhesion to the protected material, good thermal shock resistance and chemical stability, no cracking, no peeling, and no chemical reaction with the parent material during use.
Classification Magnesium coating for tundish can be composed of various refractory raw materials, and can be divided into: Magnesium coating: sintered or fused magnesia is used as raw material, and its MgC content is usually greater than 80%. In addition, if magnesia is used as aggregate and magnesium powder and chrome ore powder are used as the matrix to prepare the coating, it is a magnesia-chrome coating; if the matrix is composed of magnesia powder and alumina powder, it is a magnesia-alumina coating. The binders used are: aluminate cement, phosphate polyphosphate, metaphosphate, magnesium sulfate, magnesium chloride, sodium sulfate, sodium silicate and other materials. In order to obtain good construction performance, an appropriate amount of plastic clay is usually added. Compared with other amorphous refractory materials, the main differences are particle ratio, trace additives and water addition.

The properties of the coating material depend on the material used and the type and ratio of the binder. It is selected according to the requirements of use and is used to coat the lining surface of various industrial kilns, the inner lining of pipes, and the working surfaces of steel drums, intermediate tanks, etc. and the working surfaces of certain refractory components.
In addition, it is required that the protected base surface must be cleaned and maintained at a suitable temperature before coating. For some parts, a specific layer of mud must be applied on the base surface first, and then the prepared coating material is applied to the base surface in order. The construction body must be naturally dried for a certain period of time before use, and then baked to a certain temperature before being put into use.
