Aluminum silicate ceramic fiber castables are made by directly mixing various amorphous refractory raw materials, ultrafine powders and additives after the ceramic fiber wool is crushed. Different types of matrix raw materials and binders are selected according to different refractories. The crushed ceramic fibers are added to these amorphous refractory raw materials, ultrafine powders and additives, and then stirred and watered (the shrinkage is large when the amount of water added reaches 40% to 90%) to form the mixture.

 

 

 

 

Aluminum silicate ceramic fiber castables have both the high temperature resistance, high strength and low shrinkage rate at high temperatures of heavy refractory castables, as well as the low thermal conductivity and high thermal shock resistance of lightweight thermal insulation castables. The thermal conductivity of granular ceramic fiber castables is about 0.48 W/m•k at 500℃. The emergence of high aluminum silicate ceramic fiber castables has improved the thermal insulation effect of the overall casting of the furnace wall, but most lightweight thermal insulation castables have low operating temperatures and low strength. Compared with the current alumina hollow ball refractory castables and mullite high-strength lightweight castables, although the compressive strength dried at 110°C reaches 12-18MPa, it is improved very little at high temperature, only at 25MPa. At 500°C, the thermal conductivity is still twice that of the ceramic fiber castable.
