Lightweight mullite castable is a high-grade lightweight insulation material among lightweight materials. It can be used as an insulation layer or directly used in high-temperature parts in contact with flames.
Lightweight mullite refractory castable is made of high-quality lightweight raw materials, combined with low cement or composite micropowder technology. It uses pure calcium aluminate cement as a binder. The castable has good fluidity and low thermal conductivity. It has dual properties, that is, insulation, high temperature resistance and wear resistance.
The temperature of the working layer of lightweight mullite refractory castable is about 1350℃. The reason why it can be used directly in high-temperature parts is that lightweight aggregates with large volume density are used, and the aggregate density is high, and the compressive strength and flexural strength are high. It is used in medium-medium temperature and high-temperature strength parts, and has strong wear resistance and spalling performance.
The amount of water added to this lightweight mullite refractory castable during construction is very important. Do not add too much water. It must be strictly controlled at 6-10%. The strength in the later stage of low water addition is good and the service life is long.
In general, lightweight castables can be used for the insulation layer of the furnace lining. If the furnace lining is subject to acid corrosion, lightweight acid-resistant castables are used. Whenever lightweight mullite castables are used, most of them belong to light furnaces. Most furnaces with requirements for furnace weight will use this type of castable, because it can meet the requirements of high-temperature use, and has good thermal insulation and wear resistance, and can also reduce the weight of the furnace.
However, lightweight aggregates of different volume densities of lightweight mullite castables have a greater impact on the indicators of the castable. It depends on the temperature and environment of the use site, and different grades of mullite materials are selected. The quality of mullite determines the grade of the material. The most commonly used is the high-temperature part of the heating furnace.
Because lightweight mullite castables have good flow properties, spalling resistance and thermal insulation properties, this material is mostly used in the high-temperature parts of the heating furnace. This not only has a low furnace shell temperature and good thermal insulation performance, but also saves fuel use and improves the thermal efficiency of the furnace lining.
