It is generally made into boards, bricks and pipe tiles. The maximum operating temperature of ordinary silicate cement is 600℃, and that of high alumina cement is 800℃.

Usually, appropriate binders (water glass, aluminum phosphate, magnesium phosphate, etc.) are used with expanded perlite with a certain particle grading to prepare unburned products. Widely used in construction, chemical, petroleum, electricity, transportation and agricultural sectors. It is a very promising refractory material.
Water glass perlite products are insulation products made of water glass (Na2O.nSiO2) as a gelling agent and expanded perlite particles through mixing, molding, curing, and firing. It has good heat insulation and sound absorption properties.
Water glass perlite products, density less than 300kg/m3; compressive strength not less than 0.5MPa; thermal conductivity at room temperature is 0.056~0.065W/(m.K). The surface is grayish white; tap with finger joints, there is a crisp sound; pinch by hand, not easy to crush. But it cannot withstand falling from a height. It will not loosen after being soaked in water for a short time.
