
High-strength lightweight castables are made of shale ceramsite, clay ceramsite or shale clay ceramsite with clay, high alumina, mullite and other fine powders, binders and additives. As is known to all, due to the differences in ceramsite raw materials and firing processes, the bulk density of ceramsite particles is also different. Those that float on water are called light ceramsite, and those that sink under water are called heavy ceramsite. According to the different types of ceramsite, different types of high-strength ceramsite refractory castables can be prepared.
The ceramsite used in high-strength lightweight castables is water-selected shale ceramsite, with a refractoriness of 1300℃, an apparent porosity of 66%, a cylinder compressive strength of 2.9MPa after 4cm compression, and a bulk density of 890kg/m3 for 5~10mm particles. Particles smaller than 5mm are generally crushed from large-particle ceramsite and screened. In order to adjust the performance, high-alumina or mullite heat-resistant brick particles are added; ceramsite powder, clay powder or alumina clinker powder are used as refractory powder, CA-50 cement is used as binder, the dosage is about 38%, and MF water reducer is used as admixture.
When preparing ceramsite refractory castables, the dosage of ceramsite and binder should be matched, and the amount of water should be reduced as much as possible to prepare ceramsite refractory castables with excellent performance.
