Mullite Lightweight Brick

Mullite lightweight brick is a lightweight refractory material with an alumina content of more than 48%, mainly composed of mullite and glass phase or corundum.

Mullite lightweight brick, also known as mullite lightweight insulation brick, is a lightweight mullite product made of high-quality high-purity refractory powder, added with organic composite fillers according to the required specific gravity of the product, vacuum extruded and sintered at high temperature.

Mullite lightweight brick is resistant to high temperature and can directly contact flames. Lightweight mullite brick has high purity and low impurity content. The conventional size of mullite lightweight brick is 230×114×65mm. Mullite lightweight brick has a high refractory refractoriness, which can reach more than 1790℃. The load softening starting temperature is 1600～1700℃, and the thermal shock resistance is good.

 

Mullite lightweight brick consists of sintered mullite brick and fused mullite brick. Sintered mullite bricks are made of high-alumina clinker as the main raw material, with a small amount of clay or raw bauxite as a binder, and are formed and fired. Fused mullite bricks are made of high-alumina, industrial alumina and refractory clay as raw materials, with charcoal or coke fine particles as a reducing agent, and are made by reduction fusion after forming. The crystals of fused mullite are larger than those of sintered mullite, and the thermal shock resistance is better than that of sintered products. The high-temperature performance of mullite lightweight bricks mainly depends on the content of alumina and the uniformity of the distribution of mullite phase and glass.

Mullite lightweight brick is a new high-quality heat-insulating refractory material containing 50% to 85% Al2O2, with mullite (3Al2O3. 2SiO2) as the main crystal phase and binding phase. Because mullite has excellent high-temperature mechanical properties and chemical stability, mullite lightweight bricks have high high-temperature structural strength, low high-temperature creep rate, small thermal expansion coefficient, strong resistance to chemical erosion and good thermal shock resistance. With good performance, it can be used as the lining of the working surface of the kiln that is in direct contact with the flame, which can significantly improve the energy-saving effect of the kiln. The use temperature of mullite lightweight bricks ranges from 1350C to 1700C depending on the alumina content and volume density of the product.

Mullite lightweight bricks are widely used, mainly used as heat insulation materials in various industrial furnaces that do not contact molten materials and have no corrosive gas effects. The operating temperature is 1200-1400℃. Lightweight mullite bricks have low thermal conductivity and low heat capacity. Lightweight mullite bricks have high strength and excellent thermal shock resistance.

Lightweight mullite bricks are used for hot surface lining and backing of various industrial furnaces in metallurgy, petrochemical, building materials, ceramics, machinery and other industries. Such as: cracking furnace, conversion furnace, heating device, refining device, regeneration device, hot air furnace, heating furnace, soaking furnace, heat treatment furnace, resistance furnace, tunnel kiln, roller kiln, bell kiln, glass tank kiln, etc.
