      Andalusite refractory castable is produced using carefully selected andalusite as the main raw material, combined with high-alumina aggregates and an optimized grading system. During high-temperature service, andalusite undergoes in-situ transformation to form mullite, resulting in a denser and more stable structure. Volume stability

      Andalusite refractory castables show reduced volume expansion and a lower rate of linear change after heat treatment. The particle size of the andalusite aggregate helps regulate thermal expansion, resulting in minimal volume shrinkage during long-term use and significantly improving overall volume stability.

Thermal shock stability

      The excellent thermal shock resistance of andalusite refractory castables is related to the high-temperature decomposition of andalusite, which forms a structure composed of mullite and a silica-rich glass phase. This silica-rich glass phase fills pores and enhances the sintering effect, thereby reducing thermal stress during rapid temperature changes and improving thermal shock stability.

Antioxidant properties

      Andalusite refractory castables exhibit strong oxidation resistance. The silica-rich glass phase produced during the decomposition of andalusite fills internal pores and prevents oxygen from penetrating the material. As the particle size of the andalusite aggregate decreases and the sintering temperature increases, more silica-rich glass phase is formed, porosity decreases, and oxidation resistance is further improved.

High-temperature strength

      Andalusite refractory castables provide excellent high-temperature strength due to the formation of secondary mullite during high-temperature service. The secondary mullite enhances the bonding between the andalusite aggregate and other raw materials in the castable, resulting in improved strength at elevated temperatures.

High-temperature creep resistance

      Andalusite refractory castables offer strong resistance to high-temperature creep and deformation under long-term high-temperature conditions. The addition of andalusite helps control shrinkage at high temperatures, improves volume stability, reduces the risk of cracking during long-term service, and enhances the load-bearing performance of the castable.

      Andalusite refractory castables are widely used in torpedo ladles, induction furnaces, blast furnaces, steel ladles, glass kilns, heat treatment furnaces, electric furnace roofs, the upper sections of hot blast stove burners, anode roasting furnaces, lime kilns, cement kilns, and other high-temperature kilns. They are also commonly used in tundish castables.

      For certain critical furnace components, aluminum content alone should not be the only selection criterion. Although andalusite has a relatively lower alumina content, increasing its proportion may reduce the overall Al₂O₃ content of the castable. Therefore, material selection should be based on a comprehensive evaluation of performance requirements in each specific application.
