The principle of quick-drying explosion-proof castables to achieve quick-drying explosion-proof is to reduce the amount of water and to add high-performance admixture materials to form "capillary channels" during baking to reduce water vapor pressure and prevent bursting. The details are as follows:
(1) Reduce water consumption. Use alumina micropowder to replace part of the calcium aluminate cement binder to reduce the CaO content, reduce the formation of eutectic phase, reduce the gaps between particles, and form a dense structure. Add water reducer (dispersant) to lubricate cement particles, facilitate flow, and reduce water consumption.
(2) Add high-performance admixture materials. For example, adding air entraining agent can generate open pores and form through-holes; adding some active metals such as magnesium and aluminum can react with water to produce H2 gas and form channels; adding low melting point materials such as explosion-proof fibers can burn at low temperatures to form capillary channels, which is convenient for the discharge of water vapor; adding aluminum lactate can react with water to form a network of cracks, which is convenient for the discharge of water vapor, etc.
Practice has proved that adding the above materials can effectively reduce the construction and maintenance time, especially in terms of explosion-proof performance, which can reduce the baking time by more than half.

Quick-drying explosion-proof castables are used for overhaul (reconstruction), medium repair and minor repair of industrial kilns to reduce the downtime.
