Special Refractory Products

Special refractory products are refractory products made of high-purity, high-melting-point (>2000℃) inorganic non-metallic materials as basic components, using high-temperature ceramic technology or other special processes. They can be divided into three categories: high-melting-point oxides, refractory compounds (i.e. high-melting-point carbides, nitrides, borides, silicides) and high-temperature composite materials (i.e. metal-ceramic materials, high-temperature inorganic coating materials, high-temperature fibers and their reinforcement materials).
The raw materials used are almost all high melting point, high purity, finely dispersed materials (the composition of most materials has exceeded the silicate range), some of which are artificially synthesized, and some are obtained by purifying minerals through mechanical, physical, and chemical methods. Natural mineral raw materials are rarely used directly. The general purity is above 95%, and the special requirements are above 99%.

The raw materials used to manufacture special refractory products are almost all high melting point, high purity, finely dispersed materials (the composition of most materials has exceeded the range of silicates). Some are artificially synthesized, and some are purified by mechanical, physical, and chemical methods. Very few natural mineral raw materials are used directly. The general purity is above 95%, and the special requirements are above 99%. There are different restrictions on the type and content of special refractory product process flow materials according to different products and different uses. The melting points of various raw materials are above 2000C, and most raw materials need to be processed into micron-grade powder.

 

 

The microstructure of special refractory materials refers to the shape, size, quantity and distribution of the crystal phase, glass phase and pores, as well as the orientation of the crystal, the uniformity of the grains, the properties of the crystal interface, the distribution of impurities, etc. Special refractory materials are polycrystalline materials, composed of many single grains with different orientations. The glass phase is generally filled between the grains of the main crystal phase to form a second crystal phase material or its own defects, and there are also a certain amount of pores. The various properties of special refractory products, in addition to being determined by the chemical composition and the properties of the crystalline material, the performance characteristics reflected on the macro scale are often determined by its microstructure.

Products Description

 

The characteristics of special refractory products firing are solid phase reaction and solid phase sintering, higher firing temperature and suitable environment atmosphere. The sintering of green body is mainly the migration and diffusion of microscopic particles under high temperature conditions, which leads to particle combination, crystal growth, green body shrinkage, pore elimination, and becomes a dense, hard, and volume-stable whole. The firing temperature is 1600-2000℃, or even higher.

 

Special refractory materials have the properties of high and ultra-high temperature resistance, high strength, corrosion resistance, erosion resistance, radiation resistance, excellent thermal, electrical, mechanical and chemical properties. They have high mechanical strength, resistance to chemical corrosion and melt corrosion and other excellent properties.
